About Us

IRN is the central Iowa chapter of Romance Writers of America®.   We were formed as a chapter in 1993.  Our goal is to provide information, support, and resources to writers in the romance genre, both published and unpublished.

Our Goal

IRN is dedicated to promoting edcation, excellence, and innovation in a cooperative, friendly atmosphere of integrity, mutual respect, and personal responsibility, and is committed to the support and encouragement of our members as they pursue a serious career in the romance genre.

We are a local chapter of Romance Writers of America® (RWA), an organization of over 10,000 members nationwide.  RWA (headquartered in Houston, Texas) represents the creative arm of the $1 billion romance publishing industry.  RWA provides a monthly magazine with updated market information, craft and industry articles; an annual conference with the opportunity to meet editors and attend writing workshops presented by best-selling authors; and the opportunity to participate in competitions such as the Rita Contest for published authors, and the Golden Heart Contest for unpublished writers.
